What's up with music lately?

Is it just me or have most of the lyrics that I heard on the radio today been very repetitive? Not to condemn popular singers but repeating OH OH LALALA, OHOH LALALA for a chorus is not my idea of quality listening material. Yes, as a matter of fact I'm talking about Lady Gaga and Rhianna, among others.
Another major thing that I have noticed in music of late is that when you listen to a number of bands today play a live performance, it is very disappointing. A number of singers, even seasoned bands like Fall Out Boy, almost sound as though they can't hit most of the high notes that they sing.
Auto tune recording features are partially responsible for this mudslide. With this feature a lot of singers that could only get away with karaoke are thrown into stardom.
Myspace and Youtube have helped a lot of talented folks make a career out of the music industry. Unfortunately, a lot of people that only produce a 'one hit wonder' are made superstars over night and compared to the accomplished musicians/singers/songwriters. The truth is- there really is no comparison between a Katy Perry and Madonna, etc. There is a difference in being a revolutionary and being someone that uses a revolutionaries' image to become great.

There are those that make history and those that follow history. -jfm
